A court has made orders in a dispute between a Runaway Bay real estate agent and her former employer, Sovereign Realty over the commission she claims to be owed on sales.
The agency is defending the claim on the basis that any entitlements due to her from sales settling after she left were covered by advances already paid.
Sovereign Realty also alleges that Sweetman “unlawfully misappropriated monies”.
A procedural application came before the District Court at Southport in October with both parties attending with their legal teams.
Sovereign argued to have parts of Sweetman’s claim struck out.
It failed on several of the procedural arguments and on 17 February, Judge David Kent ruled that because there was no clear “winner” that day, Sovereign should not be awarded the legal costs it sought in respect of the application and the court appearances.
The dispute will proceed to trial in the coming months if the matter is not resolved sooner.
